Us: The ones behind GreenGreenGreenLawrenceAge= 20
Occupation= Biology Student A brief word= I have always been brought up with the view that I should waste very little. It was only when I became older I started to realise why. I am now an avid recycler and green fanatic! When I arrived at uni I was shocked that so many people did not recycle their waste, and unconsiderately threw away bag fulls of waste each week. After a brief meeting with my Resident manager I placed a recycle bin in our flat as a short trial period. When I left my halls of residence there was a plan to place a recycling bin in every flat. I study Biology at the moment, however I am moving to specialise in Ecology. I have always been interested in plants and animals and how they interact with one another. I feel my passion has come from the countryside in which I grew up. There is nothing more important to me than to prevent us from loosing the most amazing communities in nature from being lost due to human expansion. It has been noted that I act as a Dictator, I don't mind this because I least my attitude gets things done. Last year I was told I had a carbon footprint of 7.5 tonnes a year (UK average is over 15!). I always work to reduce this for it is my way of thanking nature for being as amazing as it is. Occupation= Fitness Instructor Me= My historical family background is military. I was brought up never to waste anything, especially food, to respect others, (provided they respect others also) and to work hard to be productive and self sufficient. I learnt to raise chickens, to grow produce at home, the value of the seasons (when and where to pick wild fruit) and to catch/kill /prepare wild game, fish, and prepare roadkill. I'm no expert on these matters, but I could survive in the 'wild' if I had to. I was particularly influenced by my mother's grandparents, who lived through two world wars and a depression and I strongly feel that people of today could do worse than to adopt their environmentally friendly values. I love the countryside, having spent most of my childhood riding horses and working on farms for pocket money. I was very aware that the balance between nature and man worked well for a long time. I care deeply about the world in which I live and I really believe that if we all did the most we could it would make a difference. I have thrown away 10 carrier bag sized containers of rubbish in 6 months, although there's only me and my partner at home.( I have 3 rescue dogs too, they present their own environmental problems that I have had to deal with!!) Last year I was told I had a carbon footprint of 9.2 tonnes a year (UK average is over 15!). I always work to reduce this for it is my way of thanking nature for being as amazing as it is.
